June 12, 2005:
Joan and Gary Gand organized a wonderful day of tours of private homes designed
by architects Keck & Keck in Chicago's North Shore suburbs (read bio), joined by special guest,
Robert Boyce, author of the excellent documentary book, Keck + Keck. Tours of six
homes, including the only Keck subdivision, were guided by the homeowners, several of whom
were original owners and all recounted the history and unique details of their passive solar designed homes.
We enjoyed a visual feast of vintage modern furnishings and great time to visit with other
like-minded enthusiasts of modern architecture. We thank everyone who helped us put on this
fantastic, unprecendented program, particularly the homeowners who so generously welcomed us. The tours
ended with a lovely reception party at the Gand's Keck house.
