Michigan City Tour

On Saturday, Sept. 8 2007 we were invited to members Paul Young and Margaret Fox’s home in Michigan City, Indiana to view their collection of Bauhaus art. The Young Fox Gallery is currently located in their home, the 1951 Irving Levin House, a mid-century modern residence by architect Carter H. Manny Jr. We had a wonderful visit and thank them for their hospitality.

Manny was a graduate of Harvard University, apprenticed with Frank Lloyd Wright at Taliesin West in 1946 and received his architecture degree from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1948.

The Levin house features walls of glass and brick, several courtyards, and was originally landscaped by Alfred Caldwell.

The entrance to the home featured a dramatic sculpture.

The spacious living room displays Bauhaus art and furniture.

The master bedroom looks out onto a private courtyard.
