Chicago Bauhaus and Beyond visited a secluded enclave of Don Erickson homes in Barrington, IL. Hiding in plain sight (right off Lake Cook Rd.) we turned into a park-like setting, drove over a bridge, and then curving lanes lead us to the homes. The spectacular houses were built in the 70’s in the organic modern style. Erickson was a student of Frank Lloyd Wright and also was inspired by island architecture. He combined prairie modern and tropical style to create totally unique homes that were family-oriented but also fabulous party houses.
